Najib Razak makes efforts to refresh personal brand online

Datuk Seri Najib Razak has decided to start up his own personal website in an attempt to refresh his brand image.

According to an article on Malaysian Digest, media practitioners have said this is in an attempt to gain brand traction and build up the “Najib” brand name amongst the younger voters. The article also cites that this is done in order to distance the Najib brand name from his murky earlier image.

The politician has been known to use the site for his own personal use. But the site has been slammed by Malaysians after some felt it did not fulfill its campaign promises. Media reports also state that its attractiveness has died down following Barisan Nasional (BN) losing seats in the 2013 Elections.

Malaysian Digest also claimed that many have called out the 1Malaysia slogan for not being clear in its direction and “adding mere lip service by detractors who observe that the Najib administration has allowed religious and racial strife to worsen under its watch.”

Promoting the new site on his Facebook page, an administrator wrote:

Visit the new Prime Minister personally Dato ‘ Seri Najib Razak in to follow his progress – facelifts to be involved in the journey towards the development of Malaysia.
