In a rather sternly written statement, the Ministry of Communications has deemed Menara Kuala Lumpur’s occupation of its premises as “unlawful."
As of 1 April, the operations, management and maintenance of KL Tower has been taken over by LSH Service Master. The statement also said that the tower has been closed “in the interest of visitor safety and comfort”.
It added that this is also to “provide space for the new management to carry out maintenance and improvement works”.

No re-opening date was stated.
The ministry further emphasised that the KL Tower belongs to the government.
According to The Edge, LSH and Menara KL’s parent Hydroshoppe have had a fair bit of friction over the KL Tower concession. This came after LSH had signed a 20-year concession agreement with the government. The group was then brought to court by Hydroshoppe.
A report on FMT added that LHS subsequently lodged a police report on 1 April that they were barred from entering premises.
