Monks, the global, digital, data-driven, unitary operating brand of S4Capital, has promoted Dixi Chern (pictured) to general manager, Shanghai, effective immediately. He reports to Danny Lee, managing director of Monks Greater China.
In conversation with MAKRETING-INTERACTIVE, a spokesperson of Monks said this role has been established as part of its forward-looking succession planning and continuity strategy. "Its goal is to nurture the dynamic culture we’ve cultivated, build a resilient foundation for future growth, strengthen client confidence in the organization, and enhance talent engagement and development."
In his new role, Chern will partner with Lee to lead a multidisciplinary team delivering AI-powered business-driving marketing solutions across China and the broader APAC region.
He will oversee client partnerships, P&L, and operations, while advancing Monks’ integrated capabilities in empowering the brand's organisational marketing transformation. This appointment underscores Monks’ commitment to strengthening its position in one of the world’s most dynamic and fast-evolving markets.
Moving forward, Chern will grow existing client partnerships through the latest monks AI propositions, scale the teams and deliver effective and innovative marketing solutions, the spokesperson added.
“Chern has been instrumental in driving our Shanghai operations and building strong client relationships over the past four years,” said Lee. “His leadership, client focus, and proven ability to deliver results make him ideally suited to guide our next phase of growth in Greater China.”
As a marketing leader, Chern brings extensive experience across leading digital and advertising networks including TBWA, POSSIBLE, and MullenLowe, with deep expertise at the intersection of business, strategy, and data.
In his previous role as client service director at Monks, he demonstrated exceptional leadership in delivering transformative marketing solutions and building strong client partnerships.
Throughout his career, he has partnered with marquee brands such as Adidas APAC & Greater China, Hilton Group China, AB InBev China, Unilever, and Johnnie Walker House globally, translating brand ambition into measurable commercial outcomes.
“I'm thrilled to take on this role and continue building on the strong foundations we have laid,” said Chern. “I look forward to working with Lee and our team to further strengthen client partnership, empowering our team, and delivering effective and innovative marketing solutions across Greater China.”
As part of its global strategy to empower brands in a rapidly evolving digital economy, Monks is deepening its investment in China across the APAC region. By combining content, data, digital media, production, and technology, the company is building transformative marketing solutions that drive measurable business impact now while shaping long-term growth and innovation for the future.
This comes after Lee was appointed as managing director of Monks Greater China, succeeding Rogier Bikker. In his new role, Lee will work closely with Chern to drive Monks Greater China’s growth, elevating its creative innovation and deepening client partnerships, as empowered by AI and technology.
