Mei Lee (pictured) has stepped down from her role as managing director of FleishmanHillard Singapore after a year in the position. Lee unveiled her departure in a LinkedIn post yesterday (3 February), describing the move as a decision to step away from the “conventional corporate path” after 25 years in the corporate world.

In her post, Lee said she is “retiring from the climb” to focus on wellness, longevity, lifestyle nutrition and mental health, with a particular emphasis on supporting women and children. She added that while she is stepping back from full-time corporate leadership, she will continue to offer senior strategic counsel to a select group of clients.

Lee was appointed to her role in January 2025, reporting to Joanne Wong, Asia Pacific president and senior partner at FleishmanHillard. In the role, she was tasked with overseeing the agency’s Singapore business, expanding its capabilities and growing its client roster.

Prior to joining FleishmanHillard, Lee was a partner at Boston Consulting Group in Singapore, advising technology, media and consumer clients across APAC, Europe, Africa and the United States. She has also held senior roles at Lazada, COMO Group, Condé Nast, J.Crew, Omnicom Media Group and The Walt Disney Company.

Lee relocated to Singapore in 2015 and previously served as an adjunct professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, teaching courses in social media marketing, SEO and web analytics. She has been recognised by the World Marketing Congress as one of the 50 most influential global digital marketing leaders and named among Asia’s top 50 women leaders by CMO Asia.

At the time of her appointment, Wong said Lee’s “digital transformation expertise, inspirational leadership and deep management consulting experience” would be instrumental in driving the growth of the Singapore operation.

The move comes as FleishmanHillard continues to strengthen its corporate affairs capabilities globally. In August 2025, the agency unveiled a refreshed corporate affairs leadership structure, with Rachel Catanach appointed as global managing director, corporate affairs.

The restructuring aims to provide more connected, insight-driven counsel across seven core pillars, from corporate reputation and crisis management to public affairs and executive positioning, while aligning regional operations with global strategy.
