Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia has appointed Tomoyuki Shinnishi as chief executive officer (CEO). Meanwhile, predecessor Yang Won-Chul will report back to Mitsubishi Corporation.
Shinnishi joined Mitsubishi Corporation in 1997 and has held a wide range of leadership positions in the company. From 2001 to 2008, he worked in PT. Krama Yudha Tiga Belian Motors, the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Indonesia. He has also held the position as the advisor of production and engineering before taking over the position of the unit head of sales and marketing.
In 2008, Shinnishi served as the manager of motor vehicle ASEAN and Southwest Asia Department in Mitsubishi Corporation. He moved to Mitsubishi Motors Corporation Tokyo in 2012 where he was the manager of Russia & alliance office. There, Shinnishi was in charge of the sales and marketing for Mitsubishi Motors Russian market.
Meanwhile, Yang has led the company during his tenure to launch the all-new Triton pick-up in Malaysia along with the Outlander SUV. He also drove the company to achieve the feat of surpassing 100,000 units of vehicle sales in Malaysia.
“With Shinnishi’s strong automotive experience, passion and commitment towards Mitsubishi Motors, we believe he will continue to drive the Mitsubishi Motors brand forward in Malaysia,” said Tan Sri Marzuki bin Mohd Noor, chairman of the board for Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia.
