Meltwater has appointed Kunalan Ramasamy as its country manager in Malaysia. He joins from Isentia where he was most recently regional director. According to his LinkedIn, he oversaw Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines during his two years in that role with Isentia.

His responsibilities then included developing sales strategies and campaigns, monitor market trends to propose strategic plans to optimise growth as well as build new business relationships, manage pipelines, pitch to potential clients and ensure timely response to clients. Ramasamy joined Isentia in 2017 as GM, Malaysia. He also worked at CXC Global, Agreyia Group, and Kelly Services Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Meltwater has also appointed Jeff Tai as its sales director in Hong Kong to grow and scale the business. Both Ramasamy and Tai will play a critical role in evolving and growing the business in the region.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Ramasamy and Tai to the team, and believe that their experience will be invaluable to Meltwater’s regional growth and momentum,” David Hickey, Meltwater's executive director, Asia Pacific added.

In addition to the leadership appointments, Meltwater has also partnered with McLaren and Tier One Entertainment. McLaren currently uses Meltwater’s Explore and Media Relations platforms to track and monitor its own brand, as well as to benchmark it against competitors. Meanwhile, Tier One Entertainment is using Klear, a Meltwater offering, as its main data analytics platform to fuel a growing pool of esports content creators.

Rebecca Heng, McLaren ANZ and Southeast Asia marketing and PR brand lead said Meltwater’s ability to accurately capture relevant content has been of huge help to the company when it comes to keeping track of the brand and filtering out noise on the Internet. "Beyond that, we’ve also been able to use Meltwater to improve retailer tracking and reporting in the Asia Pacific region in real-time," she said.

Meanwhile, Jonathan de Belen, head of business intelligence at Tier One Entertainment, said Klear helps the company determine everything from the cost of partnering with content creators to the value that is being delivered for the brand.

Amidst the constant evolution of social media platforms, Meltwater has also introduced new features to help brands, such as visual enrichment, Facebook Group Analytics and its partnership with NewsGuard.
