



Melissa partners Marc Jacobs for new footwear collection in PH

Shoe brand Melissa and fashion label Marc Jacobs have revealed its recent collaboration collection in the Philippines.
Melissa took to announcing the launch of the collaboration collection on its Facebook with a post and caption “Marc Jacobs x Melissa come together to celebrate a new footwear collaboration featuring vegan and sustainable silhouettes in three signature styles: The Clog, ‘Becky’ Platform Sandal, and The Slide. The Melissa + Marc Jacobs is now available in our Clube Melissa Aura, Uptown BGC and Shanri-La. [The collection is] also available in our online store.'
The Marc Jacobs x Melissa collection features footwear in bold and striking colours, with the “Becky” platform sandal in flaming red, The Clog in iconic black and The Slide in signature white. Both the “Becky” platform sandal and The Slide feature designs embedded with the Marc Jacobs typography on the soles.

According to media reports, Joy Cortez-Dauz, marketing manager of Melissa Philippines said that out of the numerous collaborations done this year, the Melissa x Marc Jacobs collaboration is distinctive to them. She also mentioned that the advantage of this collaboration lies in its incorporation of sustainability into the products.
The Melissa x Marc Jacobs footwear collection is particularly unique as it is reportedly curated using a mono-material made of Biobased EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate), certified plant-based content in the form of sugarcane to contribute to the footwear’s properties of lightness and comfort despite the chunkysoles.
The news comes just as another footwear brand Crocs picks Lil Nas X as its new global brand ambassador.
Crocs took to Instagram to break the news on June 29 after it uploaded a video teaser of the rapper’s silhouette with the caption, “Want a Lil more?”. It then followed up with a post of Lil Nas X wearing the brand’s latest height collection, with the caption, “You wanted more? We’re giving you more. Go Lil bigger”.
Crocs also took to promoting its latest global brand ambassador on its official site, with a photo campaign of Lil Nas X posing with the collection’s “Siren Clog” and the tagline “Nothing Lil About it”. The brand’s newest height collection stars bulky platform shoes and styles offered in a variety of colours.
