Media group Media Prima recorded a 12% growth, totaling RM88.4 million, in profit after tax and minority interest (PATAMI) for the first six months in 2013 compared to the corresponding period in 2012 despite a challenging operating environment. The group also recorded a 7% growth in gross revenue to RM988.4 million for the first half of financial year ending 2013, compared to RM927.9 million in the corresponding period last year.Dato' Amrin Awaluddin (pictured), group managing director of Media Prima, attributed the increase in the group's revenue to a significant contribution by non-traditional advertisers and new market segments."All of the group's media platforms recorded growth in revenues for the first six months of 2013 compared to the corresponding period in 2012. Partly through cost management and optimisation of the Group's operations, Media Prima recorded a 12% increase in PATAMI. These initiatives contributed to the positive 7% growth in our EBITDA," Dato Amrin said.On a quarter-to-quarter basis, the Group's gross revenue for the second quarter 2013 grew by 4% to RM551.7 million, compared with RM529.2 million in the corresponding period last year. Media Prima recorded a PATAMI of RM60.6 million in Quarter 2 of this year.Chairman Datuk Johan Jaaffar said Media Prima is on track to achieve its financial targets for 2013, adding that the board of directors has declared an interim single-tier dividend of 3.0 sen per ordinary share for the financial year ending 31 December 2013 to be paid on 30 September 2013.
