As it enters its 35th year in the market, McDonald’s Indonesia is reinforcing its long-term commitment to national economic development with the launch of a new restaurant in the Puncak tourism corridor, Bogor Regency, West Java.
The new outlet is the brand’s ninth location in Bogor and forms part of its broader expansion strategy under the spirit of “Sepenuhnya Indonesia”.
Managed by Rekso Nasional Food, the master franchise holder of the McDonald’s brand in Indonesia, the opening is positioned not merely as a commercial expansion but as a move designed to generate employment, develop local talent and strengthen domestic supply chains in a strategic tourism area.
Across Indonesia, McDonald’s employs more than 10,000 people to support operations at over 300 restaurants nationwide. Its workforce initiatives include the Special Crew Teman Tuli programme, which has been running since 1995 to provide opportunities for deaf employees, alongside structured training and long-term career development schemes.

At a regional level, the opening of McDonald’s Puncak has created employment for more than 30 local residents from Bogor Regency. All employees undergo comprehensive training designed to enhance workplace capabilities and open up career pathways within the quick-service restaurant industry.
“For 35 years, we have grown alongside the community with a long-term commitment to delivering tangible contributions to local communities.
"The presence of the McDonald’s restaurant in the Puncak area is a continuation of that commitment, not only through job creation, but also through strengthening human capital capacity and generating sustainable economic impact for the surrounding region,” Wawan Setiawan, associate director of operations at Rekso Nasional Food, said.

The company’s contribution to the national economy is also reflected in its sourcing strategy. Approximately 76% of McDonald’s Indonesia’s operational raw materials are sourced domestically, including core ingredients such as chicken, vegetables, eggs, rice, chillies and cooking oil. These are fully produced by local partners and meet halalan thayyiban standards.
“To support the operations of McDonald’s Puncak and ensure the supply of quality raw materials, we have established partnerships with local suppliers, including those based in Sentul, Parung, and Megamendung.
This approach underscores McDonald’s Indonesia’s long-standing commitment to building a local supply chain ecosystem founded on trust, mutual cooperation, and sustainability. We aim to continue growing alongside our partners while delivering economic benefits that can be directly felt by the surrounding communities,” Setiawan added.
Puncak remains one of Bogor’s most popular tourism destinations and a key national transit route. According to regional data, the area recorded approximately 18.16 million domestic tourist trips between January and July 2025, placing tourism development high on the local government agenda.

Local officials view the investment as a signal of business confidence in the region’s prospects.
“This expansion reflects business optimism regarding the region’s economic growth prospects, while also supporting the government’s efforts to organise and develop the tourism area in an integrated manner.
"We hope that the McDonald’s Puncak restaurant will serve as a catalyst for increased investment and local economic growth, job creation, and the strengthening of tourism competitiveness in the future,” said Heri Risnandar, head of Cisarua subdistrict.
The restaurant sits along the main access route to leading attractions including Taman Safari Indonesia and the Gunung Mas tourism area, as well as several waterfall destinations.
To mark the opening, McDonald’s Puncak hosted 50 orphans from Leuwimalang Village and donated prayer carpets to support facilities at Musala Al Aman. Until the end of May 2026, the outlet is also offering a limited promotion accessible via the McDonald’s Indonesia mobile application.
“We designed McDonald’s Puncak as a comfortable gathering place for the surrounding community, as well as for tourists enjoying the holiday atmosphere in the Puncak area, while continuing to prioritise customer comfort and the character of the mountainous region.
"With its spacious dining area and family-friendly facilities, we hope this restaurant will become a preferred dining destination and be part of many warm and memorable moments together,” Ratna Wirahadikusumah, director of store development group at Rekso Nasional Food, said.
