Across cities nationwide, McDonald’s Indonesia’s employees volunteered to deliver thousands of meals while raising awareness about food safety. This latest initiative involved nearly 400 employees and recorded more than 1,500 hours of service, reaching 5,100 beneficiaries and distributing over 5,400 meal packs in September 2025.
Now in its fourth year, the “community month” programme underscores the brand’s bid to align employee engagement with local impact. This year’s theme, “Keamanan pangan: Aman di meja, tenang di hati” (Food safety: Safe on the table, peace in the heart), also focused on educating communities about hygienic food practices.
“For us at McDonald’s Indonesia, food safety is not just an operational standard, but part of a clean and healthy culture that must be upheld together,” said Ronni Rombe, supply chain and quality assurance director at Rekso Nasional Food, the master franchise holder of McDonald’s Indonesia.

The month-long effort placed strong emphasis on schools, with volunteers visiting more than 50 primary schools nationwide. Children were introduced to the “7 tips for choosing healthy snacks” while canteen operators received the “8 keys to a safe and healthy canteen”, supported by posters and certificates to encourage sustained practices.
Beyond classrooms, the initiative extended to more than 50 orphanages, including SOS Children’s Village Jakarta, where children learned about basic hygiene while caregivers received training in food safety. The campaign also reached senior citizens at Jakarta’s Panti Sosial Tresna Werdha Budi Mulia 3, focusing on simple yet essential habits such as handwashing and checking expiry dates.
Rombe emphasised that the programme goes beyond routine CSR: “Community Month embodies the spirit of care that runs through every McDonald’s Indonesia employee. We take pride in the dedication of our volunteers, knowing that a healthy environment starts with simple habits and a collective sense of responsibility.”
McDonald’s Indonesia continues to lean into its ‘Mekdi untuk kemanusiaan’ ethos, with the ambition that simple, engaging education will create a ripple effect of healthier practices across communities.
Earlier this year, McDonald’s Indonesia celebrated the 13th National Breakfast Day by distributing 150,000 free chicken muffins across 305 outlets. Beyond promoting the importance of breakfast, the initiative also supported social impact: the company donated IDR 5,000 (US$0.3) per muffin to renovate sports facilities in over 40 schools, totaling IDR 750 million (US$46,000).
As part of the ‘Mekdi untuk kemanusiaan’ programme, McDonald’s broadened its reach beyond restaurant customers, delivering 3,500 breakfast packages to teachers and students across 26 underprivileged schools.
During Ramadan, the company held iftar gatherings for 500 online motorcycle taxi drivers and local residents in Makassar, support for Islamic boarding schools and underprivileged communities through the “Ramadan Sinergi” programme in Karawang, and nationwide distribution of iftar meals to over 300 mosques.
