Maxis Malaysia concludes pitch, hands more business to IPG

Following a pitch, Maxis Malaysia has appointed IPG's content agency Ensemble and Kingdom Digital as digital agency.The duties previously were handled by Ogilvy.The pitch was called in January this year.Sulin Lau (pictured), head of marketing services at Maxis has confirmed the development to A+M."The two agencies will handle brand and digital assignments respectively. We have enjoyed working with both agencies on a project basis in 2015, and are happy to announce more permanent partnerships with both agencies," she said.The agencies will join Leo Burnett and APD (formerly Next Digital) as Maxis' creative roster agencies. Leo Burnett will continue to handle all product marcomm briefs and APD will continue to manage all of Maxis’ web and social properties.Most recently, Maxis and Ensemble launched the ‘Kongsi Home project’. The campaign also collaborates with Epic Homes as well as Malaysia’s top 5 e-commerce platforms to turn customers’ online shopping into online giving. The five online retailers are Lazada, Gem Five, Zalora, Rakuten, and Happy Fresh.Last year Maxis handed its media AOR business to Initiative, a subsidiary of IPG Mediabrands. The scope will cover all of Maxis’ offline and online media across brand, mobile, home and enterprise. According to Nielsen’s Adex report, Maxis annual spending is RM321 million (approx. US$ 72m).
