An ad by English retailer Marks & Spencer is causing quite a frenzy online. The ad, which aims to promote the vitamin D nutrients in its bread, reads: Putting the D in bread.Netizens were quick to call out the gaffe, pointing out a parallel to a slang: “putting the D” - which has a more X-rated meaning. Some users on Twitter even questioned if it was truly a marketing failure or a stroke of genius, given the amount of attention the ad has gotten from various publications. Here are some of Twitterverse’s sexcited responses:Hmm, I probably wouldn't if it was a crusty loaf... #marksandspencer pic.twitter.com/8wT8gc6dIp— Lloydie (@LloydieJL) August 18, 2015The only probable conclusion- #MarksandSpencer getting PR advice from Miley Cyrus. — Lily Khan (@LilyyKhan) August 18, 2015Let it cool a bit first. #MarksAndSpencer pic.twitter.com/0rFRKXUBDC— Mark Duffy (@copyranter) August 17, 2015  However, some were critical of the ad:This got past business strategists, brand developers, advertisers, marketeers, PRs & designers.
