Malaysian company enters SG retail scene with acquisition of Famous Amos

Famous Food Company, an indirect subsidiary of Malaysian investment holding company Harrisons Holdings, has entered into a sale and purchase agreement with Shaikh Esa Taha Mattar and Yeo Geok Choe to acquire Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Singapore for about SG$5.7 million. Shaikh Esa and Yeo are directors of Famous Amos Chocolate Chip Cookie Singapore.Following the sale, Famous Amos will become a 68% indirectly owned subsidiary of Harrisons. This comes after Harrisons fully acquired Watts Harrisons earlier this year, which retails and wholesales the uniform price products under the KOMONOYA brand in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.Harrisons plans to expand to other regional territories with Famous Amos and KOMONOYA. The acquisition will further enable Harrisons to capitalise on its overseas expansion platform to further expand its distributing and wholesaling business.(Photo courtesy: 123RF)
