Malaysian brands get fired up over RM460 burger online drama

Online buzz surrounding what many netizens are calling the RM460 burger has taken over Malaysian brands. The buzz came around after screenshots surfaced of a WeChat conversation featuring an allegedly wealthy bachelor named Chia who attended the birthday bash of a lady named Carmay who he supposedly had "fillings" for (get it?).
Hosted at Banyan Tree Kuala Lumpur, the bill for the party came up to RM3,679 and Chia, Carmay and their group of friends came to a consensus of splitting it evenly. This was despite the fact that Chia had only ordered a RM88 burger and a glass of water. Chia eventually paid his share of RM460 and thought nothing else of it, until one of Carmay's friends suggested he pay for her share as well - since he was interested in her. The screenshots were later picked up by Malaysian Chinese language newspaper China Press.
And of course, brands had a field day with this drama and could not hold themselves back.
