Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has introduced MHPlus, Malaysia Airlines’ new distribution capability (NDC).

NDC is a travel industry-supported programme by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) that allows airlines to modernise the way products are retailed to travel agents and travellers with curated services and enhanced product offerings, therefore improving the overall customer experience.

Therefore, MHPlus provides an advanced digital solution to enhance communication capabilities and enable closer cooperation between MAG’s airlines and its trade partners.

According to a statement to the press, with MHPlus, MAG aims to embed a streamlined transmission process across the travel industry distribution chain.

Under the first phase of the NDC’s implementation, travel platforms ‘Traveloka’ and ‘Holiday Tours and Travel’ partnered with Malaysia Airlines in order to enjoy greater access to air content, direct marketing promotions with travel agents and partners, personalised product offerings and promotions tailored based on varying customer profiles.

Group managing director of MAG, Captain Izham Ismail said that MHPlus is a testimony to MAG’s crucial milestone in becoming Asia’s leading travel and aviation services group, as it continues to embrace new technologies to provide its stakeholders with more curated offerings to fit their needs.

“We are pleased to launch this pilot phase together with our partners as it marks an important step forward in our NDC journey to enhance the user and traveller experience,” he added.

Traveloka’s partnership with Malaysia Airlines underlines the common goal of strengthening its position in the regional and global market while improving its services and offerings for consumers, said Iko Putera, CEO Transport at Traveloka. With travel recovery in full swing, we must equip the industry with the tools to thrive as we once again welcome the world to our doorsteps. Collaboration drives progress, and is at the center of all we do, making it a powerful enabler for the next era of travel,” he added.

In conjunction with enhancing its communication capabilities with an NDC, MAG has also increased its efforts to be more transparent with its customers regarding carbon emissions and climate action. Earlier this year, the group partnered with CHOOOSE, a Norway-based climate tech company, in order to develop a climate software solution. This is to support MAG’s commitment to reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 which is MAG’s projected aim according to its sustainability blueprint.
