Former Leo Burnett Malaysia ECD Eric Cruz has taken up a role at digital agency AKQA. He will be based in the agency’s Shanghai office.
Cruz was in Leo Burnett Malaysia for the past three and a half years. Prior to his stint in Leo Burnett, he worked across various markets such as USA, Tokyo and London.
Cruz said: “AKQA to me represents a new school of creativity, a playground for ideas born from innovation.” He added that China has matured into a “brave force to reckon with”.
Cruz announced his departure from Leo Burnett earlier in January as the agency said it would be restructuring its creative leadership to form a creative council of six creative directors.
Cruz had then said: “It was a difficult decision to make but I’d really like to focus on my family and be closer to home. I’m very thankful to Kien for inviting me to be part of Leo Burnett Malaysia. It was a great honour to have him entrust me with the responsibility of upholding Yasmin Ahmad’s legacy and striving to reinvent Leo Burnett Malaysia into the agency of the future.”
