KTM powers up Pokémon GO Fest with rail network activation

Keretapi Tanah Melayu (KTM) is tapping into the global Pokémon GO community with a nationwide activation as part of "Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global", transforming 23 stations across Malaysia into temporary "PokéStops" while bringing on-ground experiences to Kuala Lumpur's KLCC Park.
The activation will see selected KTM stations become in-game PokéStops from 11 to 13 July, allowing Pokémon GO players travelling along the rail network to collect in-game items and interact with the event as they commute. The stations span the Klang Valley, northern and southern regions of Peninsular Malaysia.
At KLCC Park, which has been designated as one of the official Asia Pacific community celebration venues for "Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global", KTM will host a branded booth on 11 and 12 July featuring a photo booth and other interactive activities for visitors.

According to the rail operator's Facebook post, attendees who present the KTM Mobile (KITS) application, a Komuter Link card or a valid KTM QR ticket will also be eligible to redeem exclusive Pokémon merchandise, while stocks last. KTM is also encouraging visitors to use its MyRailtime app to plan their journeys to the event.
The collaboration comes as Pokémon GO continues to extend beyond mobile gameplay into real-world brand and community experiences, with transport operators, destinations and public spaces increasingly becoming part of the game's location-based ecosystem.
"Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global" will take place on 11 and 12 July from 10am to 7pm local time, connecting millions of players through simultaneous events around the world. This year's edition marks the first time the annual global event will be free for all trainers, giving participants access to "special research", event bonuses and increased opportunities to encounter Shiny Pokémon without purchasing a ticket.
The event also introduces several major in-game milestones, including the Pokémon GO debut of Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y through "Super mega raid battles", while mythical Pokémon Zeraora will make its first appearance in the game through "special research". To mark the occasion, gameplay has also been extended to nine hours each day.
Ahead of the global event, Pokémon GO hosted ticketed festivals in Tokyo, Chicago and Copenhagen before culminating in community celebration events across multiple cities worldwide. Kuala Lumpur joins cities including Seoul, Taipei, Jakarta, Bangkok and Bengaluru as one of the official Asia-Pacific celebration locations, with KLCC Park hosting free public activities throughout the weekend.
