Weber Shandwick has named Jye Smith as Asia Pacific head of Mediaco, the PR firm’s content creation and distribution unit.
The appointment is effective immediately.
Smith will oversee all Mediaco activity for the agency in Asia Pacific, including driving new business, expanding key client relationships and building Weber Shandwick’s Mediaco offering throughout the region.
He continues to report into Jon Wade, Weber Shandwick’s head of digital in Asia Pacific.
In his previous role as vice president of digital, Smith helped to introduce both Mediaco and FireBell – Weber Shandwick’s crisis communications tool – to Asia Pacific.
“Mediaco has gained strong traction with clients and new business prospects since its launch in August,” said Wade.
“Jye, as our leading digital strategist in the region, is more than equipped to take on the leadership of this fast expanding division. He has the ability to make complex digital subjects simple and to see things always from a client point of view.”
