The Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zones (JS-SEZ) are expected to create up to 100,000 high-paying job opportunities, Johor chief minister Onn Hazif Ghazi reportedly said.

The collaboration to establish the JS-SEZ will attract foreign investments and contribute to the economic growth of Johor, Onn reportedly added. It will also transform the economic landscape.

The chief minister made these statements during his speech at the launch of the Johor Student Character Module in conjunction with the Johor International Student Leaders Conference 2024, according to Bernama.

Onn also reportedly added that the "Maju Johor 2030" agenda and efforts have attracted Johor RM113.7 billion and created over 35,000 job opportunities.

At the same time, the Johor chief minister reportedly urged people to play their part in driving progress in the state.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has reportedly said that Malaysia’s political stability and clear economic policies have reportedly allowed it to gain world attention as a leading investment destination

However, he also stressed the need to develop an educated workforce as Malaysia’s investments from companies such as Infineon and Nvidia to name a few, require 30,000 engineers which Malaysia is unable to fully fulfil at the present moment.

“Don’t struggle with trivial matters because the country’s direction remains on the right track, especially in terms of attracting investors and even stimulating the economy for the benefit of the common people,” he said in Malay in a post on X seen by A+M.
