Isetan unveils Japan store in Kuala Lumpur

The Isetan Mitsukoshi Group, supported by the government-financed Cool Japan Fund, is set to open a new specialty store called The Japan Store, in Kuala Lumpur at the end of October 2016.

With an aim to promote Japan on a global platform, the new store will deliver Japanese lifestyles and aesthetics to customers. The store will also showcase Japanese elements along the country’s authentic experiences.

Hiroshi Ohnishi, president and CEO of the group said, “In 2011, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) launched “Cool Japan”, a program which promoted the introduction of regional products, fashion and other content to the world. In a similar context, the group has launched the store to not only promote “the sense of Japan” and introduce traditional handicrafts from the country.”

The company also opened The Japan Store in Paris recently.
