iflix introduces VIP service to Thai consumers with AIS tie-up

Iflix has tied up with Thai mobile operator and Singtel affiliate, Advanced Info Service (AIS), to make the ad-free, subscription-only iflixVIP service available to its 41 million consumers throughout the country through integrated carrier billing and sachet payments.

This announcement comes approximately a month after it signed multi-stage partnerships with other Singtel affiliates - Indonesia's Telkomsel and the Philippines' Globe Telecom. According to iflix's co-founder and CEO, Mark Britt, the deals collectively represent a customer base of more than 270 million in Indonesia, the Philippines and Thailand. Also, Britt said the deals signify years of hard work, late nights and touch negotiations by all teams to unlock the "huge" growth opportunity.

Meanwhile, AIS chief consumer business officer, Pratthana Leelapanang, said AIS intends to deliver its service to consumers nationwide, by continuously improving its content partnership to give the best entertainment to reach all of its customers' lifestyles.

"We are pleased to partner with iflix, leading SVOD service provider with a wide of selecting of movies and TV series. This collaboration aims to fulfill our customers in term of diversity of content, payments convenience and sign up on iflixVIP," Leelapanang said.

Recently, iflix said it is investing up to US$5 million to launch a Creators Hub in partnership with Next 10 Ventures, a venture group focused on the creator economy. The Creators Hub will fund and accelerate the development of new online video creation in Southeast Asia.
