HTC has appointed former lead strategist of Tribal DDB, Leon Traazil as head of digital marketing & social media, South Asia.
In the new role, he is responsible for the development of the holistic South Asia digital marketing strategy, from conception to completion, delivery and execution.
He will work very closely with the HQ digital and social media organisations to ensure all existing platforms are utilised and maximised for South Asia. He will also work closely with local South Asia markets, which has largest social media region at HTC (with the largest fanbase), to elevate and heighten the current state of its digital marketing practices.
The role was previously vacant with Shane Chiang, head of online communications, Asia Pacific, filling in temporarily.
Based in Singapore, Traazil reports to Sara Paz, HTC’s senior director of marketing, South Asia.
With close to a decade long experience, Traazil has had stints at agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi, Arc Worldwide and Wunderman Asia before joining Tribal DDB.
At Tribal DDB he was in charge of account management and digital planning for a pool of clients as well as ad hoc consultancy for various clients. Brands he has worked on include Cerebos/Brand’s Asia Pacific, Changi Airport Group, DBS, Health Promotion Board, Ion Orchard Residences, Intercontinental Hotel Group, McDonald’s, Unilever Asia Pacific, Volkswagen Singapore and others.
Meanwhile, HTC has also appointed Darrell Tan as head of marketing, Singapore and Bani Mehta, as senior marketing campaign manager, South Asia.
Both Tan and Mehta also report to Paz.
As the senior marketing campaign manager in the South Asia regional marketing team, Mehta works closely with the team on campaign and retail marketing initiatives for the region; both in regional creative development and supporting markets with communication coordination and localisation of marketing assets (based on media material requirements and local retail marketing requirements).
She began her career in digital advertising with The Upper Storey (now Isobar) in their Account Management division and thereafter joined JWT. While at JWT, she worked on Nokia’s regional advertising account in South East Asia, working closely with clients on their brand categories, supporting nine APAC markets.
In his new role, Tan is charged with planning, managing and executing end-to-end marketing initiatives across the Singapore market.
This includes brand development, product launches, operator marketing and retail marketing. He joins HTC with consumer marketing experience in marketing strategy, media planning, experiential marketing creation and management, and digital marketing having had stints at Nokia and APB’s Tiger Beer.
