HSBC and The Monsters launch first collab to celebrate anniversary milestones

To commemorate its 160th anniversary, HSBC is partnering with The Monsters—celebrating their own 10th anniversary—for a first-ever collaboration featuring the beloved characters Labubu and Zimomo, created by local designer Kasing Lung.

As the lead sponsor, HSBC is presenting the “MONSTERS BY MONSTERS: NOW AND THEN – THE MONSTERS 10TH ANNIVERSARY GLOBAL TOUR – HONG KONG,” running from 6 to 28 December 2025. The exhibition will showcase a curated selection of original paintings and artworks featuring Labubu and Zimomo. As part of this unique partnership, Lung has also designed a limited-edition vinyl figure exclusively for HSBC.

The exclusive collection highlights The Monsters’ iconic characters, Labubu and Zimomo, alongside Stitt and Stephen—HSBC’s iconic guardian lions. In a symbolic representation of the collaboration, Zimomo is seen holding Stephen, while Stitt holds Labubu—blending The Monsters’ whimsical world with HSBC’s rich heritage.

The design of the vinyl figures will be unveiled soon via HSBC’s social media channels. These charming character pairings reflect the fusion of imaginative storytelling and cultural legacy.

To celebrate, HSBC banking customers will have the chance to participate in the “HSBC x THE MONSTERS anniversary lucky draw,” with prizes including a limited-edition vinyl figure blind box and two exhibition tickets.

"We’re excited to collaborate with Lung and How2work to create a cross-disciplinary experience bridging art, innovation and finance. As we mark the HSBC’s 160th anniversary alongside THE MONSTERS’s 10th, this reflects our commitment to growing with the younger generation through imaginative, story-driven moments,” said Cheuk Shum, head of marketing, Hong Kong, HSBC. “HSBC remains dedicated to the ‘Open to art’ philosophy, supporting local and global art scenes to inspire everyday creativity.”

This collaboration follows a growing trend in Hong Kong, where renowned brands are partnering with Lung to mark the 10th anniversary of The Monsters. Notably, luxury brand Moynat recently launched a limited-edition collection in collaboration with Lung, featuring Labubu, Zimomo, and King Mon rendered on Moynat’s signature M canvas.

Lung, who draws inspiration from Nordic folklore, mythology, and classic cartoon characters, introduced The Monsters in 2015 through a trilogy of books. Since then, the series has evolved into a thriving creative universe of artworks and collectible figures, capturing the imagination of fans worldwide.

The launch was celebrated with a dynamic campaign captured by photographer Xiangyu Liu, featuring an illustrious cast including Malaysian actress Michelle Yeoh, Hong Kong actor Tony Leung, French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld, and Paris Opera Ballet étoile Guillaume Diop.
