Social media management platform Hootsuite is undergoing a cost cutting exercise which has included layoffs of over 40% of its regional team in Singapore.
While it used to comprise a full-fledged team, the Singapore office now has less than 20 staff in mainly client servicing and sales roles. Marketing understands that the Singapore office will continue to mainly function as a client servicing hub for the region. Meanwhile, the entire marketing team of four has been scrapped, sources confirmed.
Hootsuite’s staff in Singapore received an internal memo on 2 December with instructions to clear the premises immediately, a source told Marketing.
The layoffs came in less than two months after Hootsuite appointed a new global CMO and SVP of global sales. Meanwhile, the company appointed Simon Trilsbach as vice president, Asia Pacific, in February.
Hootsuite could not be reached at the time of writing.
