With Hongkongers soon being able to register for the e-voucher scheme by the government, shopping malls in the city have been rolling out discounts or promotional offerings to attract more spending from the public and footfall. Recently, Wharf's Times Square and Harbour City, as well as Swire Properties, announced their rewards programme prior to the registration.

Wharf said upon successful registration of the government’s electronic consumption voucher and selecting AlipayHK, WeChat Pay HK or Tap & Go to receive the e-vouchers, shoppers can redeem HK$400 shopping coupons for free at Harbour City and Times Square once respectively during the promotional period from 5 July to 5 September 2021. The malls have also announced dedicated plans for different mobile wallet users. For example, upon registration as AlipayHK new users, consumers can get a welcome offer of HK$70, including two HK$35 coupons. Meanwhile, after selecting AlipayHK to receive the e-vouchers, shoppers will receive one HK$50 coupon for use at city’super in Harbour City and Times Square.

For WeChat Pay HK users, consumers are able to receive a HK$40 coupon that can be used at over 100 designated beauty brands in Harbour City and Times Square. Tap & Go users can also get a chance to join a special event at Harbour City in July.

Moreover, Swire Properties also collaborated with HKT's Tap & Go to roll out offers. From 30 July to 31 October 2021, eligible payments made by Tap & Go at designated merchants in Pacific Place, Cityplaza and Citygate Outlets may enjoy shopping rewards with a total value over HK$9,000, including mall and merchant cash vouchers and exclusive gifts. Redemption is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

“Tap & Go is committed to providing users with secure and convenient shopping and payment experience. We are very pleased to partner with Swire Properties to bring benefits to consumers as well as local and small merchants by encouraging spending, and in turn play a part in reviving the economy," said Monita Leung, head of HKT Financial Services.

Another highlight of this joint initiative will be a series of lifestyle videos featuring Edan Lui, ambassador of Tap & Go for the scheme and a member of boy band MIRROR. The videos and activities will be launched across various digital channels of the malls and Tap & Go as part of the promotional campaign, showcasing Lui’s shopping adventures at Pacific Place, Starstreet Precinct, Cityplaza and Citygate Outlets. The campaign, along with an online game, will be revealed soon, according to Swire Properties.

We’re happy to offer the local community attractive incentives to enjoy the shopping, dining and lifestyle experience at our malls with family and friends, giving retail businesses a summer boost and, ultimately, helping drive Hong Kong’s economic recovery,” said Fiona Shiu, deputy director, retail (Hong Kong), Swire Properties.
