Hang Seng Private Banking has presented the “Savour the culinary extravaganza, taste the thrill” initiative, offering an unparalleled journey of culinary artistry and entertainment to consumers, and served as a prelude of the endless extraordinary experiences yet to come in 2025.
This comes as Hang Seng Private Banking understands and is dedicated to providing bespoke wealth solutions tailored to the unique needs of each of its esteemed clients — helping them achieve the elevation of their wealth and pass on their achievements and values, creating a legacy that can be handed down through generations.
The event invited second and third-generation family members including Ayla Sham, a prominent Gen Z fashion icon and the second-generation celebrity who shared her insights; chef Kwon Sungjun, champion of Netflix’s acclaimed culinary competition "Culinary Class Wars", and chef Hung Po Fat, executive chef of The Penthouse, for their extraordinary showcase of culinary artistry.
In this unique east-meets-west culinary challenge, the two master chefs exchanged signature ingredients and crafted innovative creations that transcend cultural boundaries, stunning guests with a one-of-a-kind culinary experience.

For the first time, Kwon took on the challenge of incorporating Hong Kong’s prized delicacy—Threadfin (Ma Yau fish) into his culinary creation, crafting a unique fusion of east and west with Threadfin Tortellini with Lobster Bisque. Threadfin has long been a staple at festive banquets in Chinese cuisine, known for its delicate texture and rich oils, with its salted version considered a premium ingredient in Cantonese gastronomy.
Renowned for his mastery in blending tradition with innovation, Hung introduced a bold new creation—Crispy Rice Italian Anchovy Squid Ball, infusing a classic Cantonese dish with Western elements. Anchovies, an essence in Mediterranean cuisine, are often preserved through salting or oil curing to enhance their aroma and umami. This dish was not just an east-meets-west culinary experiment but a testament to the fusion of heritage craftsmanship and modern flavours.
Whether it is the star-rated gastronomic creations of a master chef or the wealth solutions from Hang Seng Private Banking, both embody a spirit of craftsmanship and legacy. The chef carefully selects ingredients, blending tradition with innovation to create an extraordinary experience.
With professional expertise and market insights, Hang Seng Private Banking also aims to offer bespoke wealth management strategies for clients, cultivating their wealth and creating a legacy that can be passed on for generations.
Hang Seng Private Banking also invited musician Edward Chan to compose a brand-new musical piece dedicated to this experience. His audio guidance allowed guests to taste the dish under different tunes, providing an elevated multi-sensory experience. The Chestnut Tiramisu chef Kwon Sungjun created played a pivotal role in his journey on Culinary Class Wars, where it turned the tide in the team revival challenge and left the judges in awe.
The recipe sparked widespread discussion online and led to an exclusive collaboration with a Korean food company, where the limited-edition product sold out instantly upon release.
Rannie Lee (pictured second left), head of wealth management and personal banking at Hang Seng Bank, said: "Rooted in Hong Kong with deep local insights, Hang Seng has always adhered to a customer-first approach, striving for excellence and innovation. Since 1996, our private banking division has been crafting bespoke wealth solutions for clients, expanding assets and secure families’ future."
"We are also honoured to be by the side our esteemed clients on their journey of family legacy and wealth growth, celebrate life’s finest moments. I am delighted to see second and third-generation family members attending the event together. I hope that through this dining and entertainment experience, we can further strengthen our communication with clients, becoming a trusted partner and continuing to accompany our clients and their families toward a brighter future," Lee added.
"I am very pleased to be in Hong Kong for this event,” said Kwon, “And I thank Hang Seng Private Banking for providing this rare opportunity, allowing me to share my passion for cooking with many esteemed guests. The exchange of culinary skills with Chef Hung was an invaluable experience, inspiring my take on the fusion of eastern and western culinary cultures."
Sham said, “I really enjoyed ‘Culinary Class Wars’, getting to taste the chestnut tiramisu and new dishes created by Kwon was such a cherished experience. It also sparked a deeper understanding of legacy in me. Just like Kwon, who inherited his great grandmother's passion for cooking and skills, adding his own creative interpretation, he has achieved phenomenal results. What a family should pass on is not only wealth, but also values and beliefs."
