In celebration of Merdeka Day and Malaysia Day, Grab Malaysia has launched a campaign titled "My New Malaysia". The campaign features a 90-second short film that takes viewers through the eyes of different children to see who the new Malaysia is really for. The names of the children were also meant to be an homage to major political figures in Malaysia. The short film is part of a series of events to celebrate the new Malaysia and empower citizens to leverage technology capabilities to address their everyday needs, as well as boost the income of local entrepreneurs as the country moves forward into the digital economy. As part of the "My New Malaysia" campaign, Grab will also collaborate with local songwriters to write and produce a love song for Malaysians by Malaysians. The song will then debut on Grab’s social media platforms in time for Malaysia Day. Furthermore, Grab will tie-up with RIUH, a Malaysian curated creative platform, to host a "RIUH x Grab Malaysia Day weekend" powered by GrabPay, in celebration of Malaysian creativity. For the weekend, Grab is also working with homegrown entrepreneurs and creative social enterprises to create limited-edition Grab Malaysia Day merchandise, locally produced products and delicacies. Grab customers can enjoy some of these items on a list of 175 GrabPay and GrabFood merchants from 27 August to 30 September 2018. Users will also get RM5 off when paying using GrabPay at participating local merchants or ordering from a list of specially curated local fares on the GrabFood app during this period.Iris Chang, country marketing head, Grab Malaysia said everything the company has planned for this year’s Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebration is in line with its vision of being the everyday app to address customers’ daily needs, from transport, food and in-store payments at their favourite restaurants."We are also excited and encouraged to work with local creative entrepreneurs and organisations to make this year’s celebrations more personal for Malaysians,” Chang added. She also hopes that Grab will be able to work hand in hand with the rakyat through this year's activities, to help make the new Malaysia a reality, through better accessibility of transport options or growth opportunities for micro-entrepreneurs through GrabFood and GrabPay.
