Grab Malaysia is shining the spotlight on the people who drive its ecosystem forward. The ride-hailing and superapp giant has teamed up with KS Lagi to premiere "Rakan Grab jelajah ASEAN" ("Grab and friends tour ASEAN"), a three-part video series that follows driver- and delivery-partners as they journey across Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, showcasing the human stories behind the technology and service.

The series captures the lived experiences of everyday Grab partners, illustrating how their on-the-ground knowledge informs hyperlocal solutions that serve communities across Southeast Asia. In the first episode, KS Lagi host, Shahril Hamdan is joined by Malaysian Grab driver-partner Syukri Ghazali as they travel to Bali, Indonesia to check out the island's sceneries, food offerings, and tourist attractions.

The whole journey is of course, powered by Grab, such as the car ride from the airport to Uluwatu, to the EV bike ride which takes the team over to their dinner spot. Throughout their journey, the partners share about their experience working with Grab, and how the platform acts as their main source of income.

According to Grab, for many of its participating Malaysian driver-partners, including Syukri Ghazali, Christine Wee Seow Ling and Aiman Muhamad Shamsudin, it was their first time travelling to these countries. Through their journeys, the series highlights the shared spirit of resilience, innovation and connection that drives ASEAN forward.

“Visiting our fellow Grab countries gave me a deeper appreciation of how our fellow driver- and delivery-partners across ASEAN share the same drive to provide for their families, to serve their communities and to keep moving forward. Even though our cities are different, the spirit is the same, and it’s inspiring to see how technology connects all of us in that shared journey,” said Syukri.

Adelene Foo, managing director of Grab Malaysia, said the series is part of a broader effort to recognise partners as the pulse of the ecosystem. “They understand their cities and customers better than anyone else, and their experiences directly inspire the technology we build. Rakan Grab Jelajah ASEAN celebrates how we work together to create technology that is inclusive, sustainable and built for the region,” she said.

The series is not only a celebration of Grab partners’ stories, but also a demonstration of how the company integrates innovation with community insights. Across ASEAN, Grab has introduced homegrown technologies, including AI Driver Companion to help driver-partners find demand more efficiently, AI Merchant Assistant to support micro, small and medium enterprises, and GrabMaps, an AI-powered hyperlocal mapping tool developed with input from drivers and delivery-partners.

As Malaysia concludes its ASEAN Chairmanship and passes the baton to the Philippines, Grab reaffirms its commitment to supporting regional development through technology and innovation. The full "Rakan Grab jelajah ASEAN" series is available exclusively on KS Lagi’s social media platforms, offering viewers a glimpse into the lives, challenges and creativity of the people powering Southeast Asia’s superapp ecosystem.

KS Lagi, also known as Keluar Sekejap Lagi, is a podcast series launched by ex-politicians Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Hamdan, has evolved into a digital content company with several shows and social series. Most recently, it collaborated with Lalamove on its "Kerja sekejap" ("Work for a moment") series, and with Gardenia on its "Sembang dalam kereta" ("Chat in the car") show.

The new video series comes as Grab Malaysia launched its "Kerana ASEAN" ('Because of ASEAN') campaign in May this year, in support of Malaysia’s ASEAN chairmanship this 2025, reinforcing its commitment to regional collaboration and sustainability.

Announced as a strategic partner of the ministry of foreign affairs, the campaign is part of Grab’s broader #GrabBersamaAsean ('#GrabWithASEAN') initiative aimed at educating the public on the significance of ASEAN cooperation and Malaysia’s leadership role in the region.

In August, Grab also marked this year’s National Day with a heartfelt tribute to the people who drive its platform. The super app released a music video titled Keranamu Malaysia ("Because of you, Malaysia"), a celebration of the innovation, collaboration, and resilience that define its community of users, partners, and employees.
