GoPlay, an interactive live streaming platform from Gojek, has launched its GoPlay Creator Fund programme. With a IDR 15 billion goal, this programme aims to support content creators, by making income more accessible, as well as encourage the growth of the creator economy in Indonesia.
Open to all creators in Indonesia from various genres, including new creators without a following, the fund programme will run throughout the year. The GoPlay Creator Fund is expected to increase the scale of GoPlay’s content creator development programme as well.
With terms and conditions applied, each creator will get a monthly bonus amount correlated with their frequency of livestreaming on GoPlay, the number of viewers, and how creators can find true fans from their audience community. To support transparency and innovation, creators will also receive monthly performance reports, and access to instant withdrawals every month or when their show ends. GoPlay will also hold various special missions and livestreaming-content creation training for all creators to ensure the quality and interactivity of their streams, and bring creators closer to the audience.
GoPlay's CEO Edy Sulistyo said:"Focusing on interactive livestream services since 2021, GoPlay continues to strengthen its position as the home of local Indonesian creators. Through the GoPlay Creator Fund, GoPlay is committed to supporting the livelihood of Indonesia's content creators to earn a sustainable income. This programme aligns with Gojek's mission to provide social impact for our ecosystem."
Sulistyo adds that more Indonesians are choosing content creating as their main profession. In order to then supply the burgeoning creators with a more accessible stream of income, GoPlay has extended its virtual gift function, which enables fans to directly support their favourite creators with gifts or income. This feature also helps creators attract viewers because of its convenience. Various creators on GoPlay have collected revenues of tens to hundreds of million Indonesian rupiah each month, through the virtual gift feature collected from viewers during streaming on GoPlay, the company said in a press statement.
“The creator economy requires that creators' income not come from brands only, but mainly from fans. Since the first time GoPlay’s livestream service arrived, new creators have had the opportunity to earn revenue directly from their audience through the virtual gift feature without any minimum criteria," said GoPlay's chief strategic officer Martinus Faisal.Through GoPlay, new content creators can fully focus on creating positive content with the full support of GoPlay's various features.
Besides monthly bonuses and the potential for increasing virtual gifts, creators will have the opportunity to get various benefits in expanding the live stream platforms. Some of these advantages are promotion and aid advertising support for creator on various GoPlay owned media channels; a special edition virtual gift with a unique design at a live show hosted by the creator; and opportunities to appear in regular GoPlay live performances, among others.
Since its inception in 2018, GoPlay has been conceived as a platform that will contribute to Indonesia’s creator economy, through positive and entertaining content. With the funding programme, more creators will be able to dedicate their platforms to creating interactive, educative and entertaining content for fans.
GoPlay began as an on-demand video streaming service for Indonesian consumers, where users can gain access to hundreds of films and television shows exclusive to the platform, including a wide range of local content. Currently, GoPlay users can enjoy multiple live streaming content, including the JKT48 Liveshow collaboration program, Japanese culture class Hirosensei, a talk show about women empowerment, She Talks, live quiz Tebak Lagu, and live trivia Trivia Time.
