As Hong Kong is undergoing the fifth wave of the pandemic and many businesses, including hair salons, are required to shut their doors to help contain the situation, logistics company GOGOX has collaborated with hairstylists in the city to roll out a campaign, engaging citizens with an interactive game and awarding them a free hairdressing service.

GOGOX's campaign “Free Door-to-Door Hairdressing Service” includes a quiz that will end on 17 February, inviting the public to offer creative answers to the question: What is the best hairstyle when wearing a mask?

GOGOX will select a total of 80 most creative answers, awarding the winners a free hairdressing service from 22 to 23 February.

One of the participating hairdressers said, "The partnership is a pioneering idea. We can provide hairdressing without physical limitations, and it is also an opportunity to cheer each other up amid the challenging environment.”

The logistic company said hairdressers participating in this campaign have been vaccinated and tested negative before delivering the service. GOGOX has been offering extra services amid the pandemic, including door-to-door saliva specimen pick-up services and proxy buying, a service that couriers help buy items based on customers' request and with delivery services provided

“By leveraging the platform's diversified solutions and logistics network, we wish the service could solve the needs of citizens, while also spreading the positive message of supporting each other to combat the fifth wave," said Reeve Kwan, co-founder of GOGOX.

The Hong Kong government introduced more pandemic control measures in early February, including extending the vaccine pass to a number of premises including shopping centres, department stores, and supermarkets. It has also introduced a cap on public gatherings, tightening to two people but families with more than two members are exempted. Gatherings of more than two households are also banned even in private places. Chief executive Carrie Lam said she hoped that the public realise the time "has come for Hong Kong to take some tough measures and every measure that we now introduce has been undertaken in other jurisdictions."

Additionally, a total of 15 types of specified premises are required to shut, such as theme parks, museums, party rooms, beauty parlours, swimming pools, bathhouses, game centres, karaoke rooms, sports premises, event and performance venues, and cinemas.
