GO Communications brings on Andreas Vogiatzakis as chairman

GO Communications has appointed industry veteran Andreas Vogiatzakis as its non-executive chairman, marking a significant milestone for the independent agency as it enters its third decade of operations.

The appointment brings one of Malaysia’s most respected media leaders into GO Communications’ leadership fold, signalling the agency’s intent to strengthen its long-term strategic direction while doubling down on people-led leadership in an increasingly technology-driven industry.

Vogiatzakis brings decades of leadership experience across global media agencies and multinational markets. His career spans senior leadership roles across the United States, Greece, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia. Notably, he had a stint at Star Media Group as its group CEO in 2019, and also led Havas Media Group Malaysia as CEO for three years. From 2006 to 2016 for nearly a decade, Vogiatzakis was also the Malaysia CEO for Omnicom Media Group. He's also held leadership roles in Mindshare, Starcom MediaVest, and DMB&B among others.

As non-executive chairman, Vogiatzakis will provide strategic counsel to GO’s board and leadership team, advise on long-term organisational direction, and play a key role in human capital development.

Commenting on the appointment, Peter de Kretser, co-founder and ceo of GO Communications, described the move as both strategic and personal. “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Andreas for a long time and have always admired the clarity of his thinking and his influence as a natural leader. His experience spans continents and cultures, and that global perspective is invaluable,” he said.

De Kretser added that the agency’s recent growth has prompted a renewed focus on leadership and scale. “The last few years have seen GO on a strong upward trajectory, but we are not here to stand still. Andreas’ influence, guidance and leadership will elevate what is possible for GO Communications and the wider GO Group as we continue to expand internationally.”

In an industry increasingly shaped by AI, automation and digitisation, the agency shared that Vogiatzakis’ appointment reflects GO Communications’ belief that technology should enhance, rather than replace, human creativity, judgement and leadership. It added the role is designed to ensure people remain central to decision-making, creativity and growth.

For Vogiatzakis, the decision to join GO Communications was driven by alignment in values and purpose. “This is a proud, career-defining moment for me. I’ve known Peter long before GO Communications existed, and I understand the company’s DNA, its ambition, tenacity and commitment to telling stories that shape the industry,” he said.

He added that while technology will continue to define the future of communications, human thinking and empathy remain critical differentiators. “GO already has incredible talent. My role is to build on that by sharpening minds and elevating leadership so the agency continues to grow with purpose and integrity. In many ways, this feels like a return to my alma mater.”

Late last year, GO Communications had also appointed Kristine Lim as its new communications director, adding a seasoned marketing and communications leader to its senior management team. In her role, Lim will provide strategic oversight for the agency’s blue-chip clients, supporting growth while strengthening GO’s position across specialised communications sectors.

In June 2025, GO Communications bagged another client win after Irama Hotel Kuala Lumpur, an up-and-coming hospitality landmark in the capital, appointed the agency to oversee aspects of public relations and brand communications duties ahead of the hotel's opening in the fourth quarter of 2025. Later, Fresh Events Asia appointed GO Communications to spearhead the communications strategy for The Sky Race, a first-of-its-kind tower running event set to take place on 30 August 2025 at Kuala Lumpur’s iconic Merdeka 118.
