Globe Telecom is set to lose one of its key technology leaders, with Anton Reynaldo Bonifacio (pictured) stepping down as chief intelligence and trust officer and leaving corporate life after 12 years with the Philippine telco.
His departure will take effect on 1 January 2027, according to a stock exchange filing by Globe. Bonifacio’s exit comes less than three years after he was appointed the company’s first chief artificial intelligence officer in 2024, with a mandate to strengthen its AI strategy, adoption and governance.
Bonifacio’s responsibilities subsequently expanded. In July 2026, Globe consolidated leadership of AI, data, cybersecurity, privacy and digital policy under the chief intelligence and trust officer role, bringing several areas of technology and risk management into a single office.

Before taking on the AI portfolio, Bonifacio served as chief information security officer, where he helped build the organisation responsible for protecting Globe’s telecommunications infrastructure and digital businesses against cybersecurity and privacy risks.
Globe credited Bonifacio with helping establish the company as both an adopter of emerging technologies and a participant in conversations about their responsible deployment.
"Mr. Bonifacio represented Globe in important conversations with technology and telecommunications leaders, both here and in the global space, bringing a perspective that is technically rigorous, deeply practical, but always distinctly human," the company said.
"Globe has been established not only as an adopter of emerging technology, but also a credible voice in shaping how technology can be deployed responsibly and at scale. Beyond these achievements, however, Mr. Bonifacio’s enduring legacy lives in the people he developed, the teams he empowered, and those he encouraged to question assumptions and imagine what might be possible," it added.
The telco also highlighted Bonifacio’s role in developing its employees’ ability to work with emerging technologies while maintaining appropriate safeguards.
"Mr. Bonifacio created space for people to experiment, learn, and lead, challenging Globe to look further ahead while never losing sight of Globe’s people and customers," Globe said.
"We are grateful for Mr. Bonifacio’s courage and foresight, and for taking the helm of Globe’s journey into cybersecurity, information security, and the then-unknown field of AI. Mr. Bonifacio guided our employees not only into using these technologies to benefit the organisation and their personal lives, but to thrive alongside their evolution with proper safeguards."
Garrett Silao, Globe’s current chief information security officer, will take over as officer-in-charge from 1 January 2027, reporting directly to president and CEO Carl Cruz.
Silao joined Globe in 2008 as an information security engineer before becoming head of its security operations centre in 2015. He later took on the CISO role, overseeing the company’s cybersecurity function.
