Clean energy solutions provider Gentari has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BMW Group Malaysia. It was done via its wholly-owned subsidiary, Gentari Green Mobility, to explore the implementation of green mobility services and solutions, as well as renewable energy deployment.

According to Gentari, the two parties are currently actively working together to explore potential collaborations in multiple areas. These include the installation of electric vehicle charging infrastructure at various facilities, the BMW network of dealerships and various EV fleet solutions in the Malaysian market. It will also explore value-adding services for BMW EV owners which include EV charging subscription plans, electric forecourts, portable charging and mobile charging services as well as the deployment of joint renewable energy infrastructure.

The signing ceremony, held at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, was attended by deputy CEO of Gentari and CEO of Green Mobility, Shah Yang Razalli and Hans de Visser, managing director of BMW Group Malaysia.

Shah said that the partnership between Gentari and BMW Malaysia is an exciting one as the former’s capabilities in the renewable energy field can aid in establishing a more comprehensive green electron value chain. “Together, we can pave the way for a greener and more sustainable future,” he added.

“We at BMW Group Malaysia are pleased to collaborate with Gentari to develop more mobility solutions, services as well as infrastructure to drive more clean and responsible technology and practices for the automotive industry here. I can already envision this partnership shaping the future mobility landscape of Malaysia, offering more solutions created through the means of sustainable development and circularity,” de Visser added.

Earlier this year, Gentari appointed Dheeraj Raina as its new chief marketing and strategic communications officer. This comes shortly after he vacated his role as CEO of dentsu media in May this year after nearly two years in the position, which he announced on his LinkedIn. Prerna Mehrotra stepped into the role of CEO of media for dentsu APAC after.

During his time at dentsu, Raina was tasked to lead all media brands under its wing - Consider iProspect, Vizeum, Carat, dentsu X, Amplifi, Posterscope, and Amnet. Prior to his time at dentsu Malaysia, Raina was with Mindshare for two years, rejoining the agency as MD in 2018. The appointment came after dentsu international's new brand evolution and simplified business model integrating key capabilities, technology, and investment functions within three lines of businesses - creative, media, and CRM.

In February last year, BMW Group Malaysia appointed Publicis Groupe Malaysia to handle strategic planning, creative advertising, and digital for BMW passenger cars, Motorrad and MINI business units. The agency was tasked with enhancing the consumer journey, elevating consumer brand experiences, crafting a sustainability narrative, and building brand relevance for each brand and its audiences.
