GCash has brought its Wais Tindera Caravan to Cebu, gathering more than 200 nano, micro, small and medium enterprises (NMSMEs) to strengthen financial literacy, encourage responsible borrowing and accelerate digital adoption among Filipino entrepreneurs.
Held in celebration of MSME Month, the initiative forms part of GCash's broader strategy to position itself as a growth partner for small businesses by combining financial education with digital financial tools designed to support business operations and expansion.
The programme, developed by GCash and Fuse Financing, combines financial literacy and business literacy training, covering topics such as budgeting, pricing, inventory management, sales tracking and business growth. It also addresses the risks associated with informal lending, including the "5-6" lending system, by educating participants on responsible borrowing and formal financing options.

Digital financial solutions showcased during the caravan included GLoan Negosyo, a cash loan product from Fuse Financing designed to address the funding needs of small businesses, and GCash Pera Outlet Plus (GPO Plus), which enables neighbourhood merchants to generate additional revenue by offering cash-in, cash-out, bill payment and other digital financial services.
"Through the Wais Tindera Caravan, we aim to equip NMSMEs with the practical financial and business skills needed to make informed decisions, manage their finances effectively, and adopt responsible borrowing practices to grow their businesses sustainably," said Kevin Yu, head of B2B lending at Fuse Financing.
A key focus of the Cebu leg was responsible borrowing, with sessions teaching entrepreneurs how to determine whether financing is necessary for business growth, assess repayment capacity and understand loan terms, interest rates and repayment obligations before taking on debt. The programme also highlighted how formal lending solutions can support long-term business growth when paired with proper financial planning.
Beyond financing, the caravan sought to narrow the digital trust gap among small business owners by demonstrating how digital payments work, promoting safe use of the GCash platform and explaining how responsible use of digital financial services can help entrepreneurs build a financial track record and access formal financial products.
GCash also highlighted products aimed at helping merchants digitise their businesses, including GCash SoundPay Plus and GCash EasyPOS, which support QR and card payments, alongside GCash Pera Outlet Plus, which allows local retailers to earn additional income by providing financial services within their communities.
The initiative supports GCash's broader "Finance for all" mission, with financial literacy remaining central to its efforts to help Filipino MSMEs adopt digital tools, improve financial management and build more resilient businesses.
From AI-powered marketing and the friction economy to retention-led growth, DMA Philippines 2026 on 29 September in Manila will bring together marketers to tackle the opportunities and challenges shaping the next phase of digital transformation.
