Garuda Indonesia partners with Yoowifi on international eSIM service

Garuda Indonesia has partnered with travel connectivity provider Yoowifi Indonesia to launch Garuda eSIM, giving international passengers a way to arrange mobile data before departure.
The service offers eSIM data plans covering more than 160 countries across Asia, Europe, the Americas, Australia and the Middle East.
The service is designed to address a practical part of the travel journey: staying connected once passengers arrive at their destination. Customers can purchase a plan based on their destination, trip duration and data requirements, then install the eSIM digitally without removing their physical SIM card.

Mukhtaris, director of maintenance and acting director of commercial at Garuda Indonesia, said the service forms part of the airline's wider digital service transformation and its efforts to add value throughout the passenger journey.
“For us, the added value of our services should be reflected in the convenience our passengers experience. As travel needs evolve, we continue to adapt and expand services that help passengers prepare for their journeys more easily, including their need to stay connected at their destinations,” he said.
The airline said connectivity is increasingly tied to several parts of the travel experience, including accessing transportation, finding information about destinations and communicating with family.
For Yoowifi Indonesia, the partnership brings together Garuda Indonesia's passenger reach and understanding of travel needs with its connectivity infrastructure.
“We understand that connectivity has become an essential part of travel. Together with Garuda Indonesia, we aim to make it easier for customers to access internet services suited to their destinations and needs, with digital installation and customer support available 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said Kelvin See, founder of Yoowifi Indonesia.
Garuda eSIM includes a complimentary 2GB plan valid for seven days for new users, while a 50% discount is available across destinations from 1 to 11 October 2026. The service also supports 5G networks where available, as well as hotspot and tethering.
The eSIM launch builds on Garuda Indonesia's broader push to extend its digital and ancillary services across the passenger journey, following initiatives spanning its FlyGaruda app, in-flight entertainment and connectivity. Garuda Indonesia tested high-speed inflight connectivity in August 2026, allowing selected passengers to make video calls at 30,000 feet, with a phased rollout targeted for 2027.
