Garrett Popcorn SG just turned its April Fool’s gag into reality

Garrett Popcorn Shops Singapore has turned an April Fool’s social media gag into a physical miniature store, unveiling what it calls the world’s smallest Garrett Popcorn shop.
Dubbed the "Minishop", the miniature store measures 30cm wide by 40cm high and 20cm deep and recreates the brand’s signature retail environment, complete with its blue-striped shopfront, popcorn counter, tins, bags and product displays.
The activation follows an April Fool’s social media post from Garrett Popcorn Shops Singapore on 1 April, which introduced a miniature popcorn bag capable of holding a single kernel. The post generated hundreds of engagements, media coverage and requests from fans for the miniature bag to become a real product.'

Garrett Popcorn subsequently brought the concept to life through the "Minishop", which was crafted in partnership with Singapore-based miniature artist Oo Xin Man, founder of HANDXMADE and developed in collaboration with PROTOCOL agency.
The diorama was hand-crafted using materials including wood, styrene, metal, paper and polymer clay. The "Minishop" also houses the Garrett Popcorn micro bag keychain, a limited-edition merchandise item inspired by the original April Fool’s post.
Available in 'Kraft' and 'White' variants, the keychains come with miniature CheeseCorn and CaramelCrisp kernels respectively. The merchandise debuted at the "Minishop"’s opening on 28 August and will also be available as a gift-with-purchase at selected Garrett Popcorn Shops from mid-September, while stocks last.
Customers can add SG$1 to a purchase of at least SG$20 to receive one micro bag keychain, subject to the campaign’s redemption limits.
Cindy Geskin, president and COO of Garrett Popcorn Shops in Southeast Asia and China, said the "Minishop" was developed in response to an idea that fans had embraced online.
“We are thrilled to be opening the Minishop because Garrett Popcorn is all about making things that fans love and adore,” she said.
“Being able to take an idea that fans loved and bring it to life is so exciting, and we can’t wait to see you there," added Geskin.
The "Minishop" is the latest example of Garrett Popcorn Shops Singapore turning social engagement into a physical brand experience, extending an initially playful piece of social content into limited-edition merchandise and an experiential retail installation.
For Singapore's National Day celebrations last year, the brand went big and created an oversized commemorative tin featuring illustrations of Singapore landmarks including heritage shophouses, the Marina Bay skyline and the Merlion. The roving tin travelled around the city before settling in Tampines, while Garrett team members handed out 60 bags of popcorn to passersby at surprise locations.
The activation was developed with PROTOCOL, which said the larger-than-life tin was designed to reflect Garrett Popcorn’s tradition of celebrating milestones with tins in different shapes and sizes.
