Former Xaxis CEO Michel de Rijk steps down from global GroupM role

GroupM's global chief growth officer, performance media group Michel de Rijk (pictured) is stepping down from his role after six and a half years in total with GroupM and Xaxis. Prior to his current role, de Rijk was APAC president of [m]PLATFORM and Xaxis CEO of Asia Pacific before that.In a LinkedIn post, de Rijk said he had never expected it to be "such an amazing ride" when he was first contacted to run and build Xaxis Asia Pacific seven years ago. "Starting from a single desk to our 21 offices across the region with hundreds of superstars working day in and out, to deliver the vision we had all set out and establish what programmatic advertising stands for today," he said. De Rijk added that he could not be more proud of what Xaxis has achieved. "In the coming months, I will be enjoying my garden and preparing myself for another amazing (disruptive) project, that I will be able to share more details about soon," he said.De Rijk helmed the role of Xaxis CEO of Asia Pacific for more than two years, during which he was responsible for Xaxis' strategy and operations throughout the region, according to his LinkedIn. Before that, he was the vice president, Asia Pacific at digital adtech company EyeWonder. He also worked at Dutch company De Telefoongids. Marketing has reached out to GroupM for comment.
