Marketing veteran Karen Ong has recently joined the multinational dairy company Fonterra as its marketing director.
Ong joined from her last role at Johnson & Johnson as marketing and customer marketing director, where she has been with the company since August 2001, according to her LinkedIn. Throughout the years at J&J, Ong also worked in overseas markets such as US and China in 2011, in which for the latter, she was associate director for slightly more than a year.
Before J&J, she was senior brand manager at Colgate-Palmolive for more than four years.
Earlier last year, Rupa Rajamani who was head of digital performance marketing and technology strategy, group brand & marketing at Standard Chartered Bank, also joined Fonterra as general manager of consumer brand engagement. She was tasked to drive consumer engagement across the brand, overseeing all the key markets.
A+M has reached out to Fonterra for comments on Ong’s appointment.
Last September, Fonterra’s Anmum milk powder launched a campaign in Malaysia with BBDO Malaysia which decided to let a little child do the talk in educating the public about milk.
In 2015, the company made 523 job cuts in big productivity and cost-cutting drive across the organisation globally. The decision came in after business review aimed at developing initiatives for generating cash flow and enhancing efficiency.
