Facebook delivers insights to CNN
CNN and Facebook unveiled the Facebook-CNN Election Insights, a tool that displays the real-time number of people talking about President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his vice presidential pick Rep. Paul Ryan. Facebook-CNN Election Insights, found at CNN.com/FBinsights, displays real-time charts and visualisations using Facebook Insights to gauge the volume of Facebook activity surrounding the election and candidates. CNN will use the tool, which also allows people to view data by geography and demography, during their coverage of the presidential election.
Heineken gets creative with its bars
In partnership with 1-Altitude, the world’s highest al fresco bar, Heineken has rolled out Singapore’s first designer bar. Named The Edge, the bar is part of the beer brand’s focus in design and innovation. It was exclusively designed by New Zealand-born designer Lee Gibson with inspiration taken from origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. The bar will be unveiled at 1-Altitude in September.
Far East eyes expansion
Far East Hospitality, a division of Far East Orchard Limited, is looking to expand its presence in the region, starting from its hospitality management operations in Singapore. Part of its strategy to take on new and emerging markets, the company is aiming to redefine its service culture for future expansion and asset enhancement plans first in Singapore before building up its presence in overseas markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia and Australia. It has also partnered with TripAdvisor to collect and integrate travel ratings and reviews of its hotels and serviced residences into its website.
Ruder Finn bolsters its healthcare portfolio
Mai Tran, executive vice president of Health & Wellness, Ruder Finn Asia, has relocated from Beijing to Singapore to help in the company’s developments in the healthcare practice. In addition to extending Ruder Finn’s strong China portfolio and developing the local health offering in the key markets in the region, Tran will also work on the Asian components of global and regional programs, ensuring that global messages are suitably localised. In the past three years, Tran has focused on building up and strengthening the Health & Wellness offering in China.
I-S Magazine goes digital
Asia City Media Group, publishers of I-S Magazine in Singapore, has launched a tablet app for the digital version of its magazine. Sponsored by MINI, the app will download the print’s lifestyle content in an interactive environment at the same time as the print edition, which is released on the first and third Friday of each month. The Apple app was released last month, with the Android version rolled out this month.
