ESPN FC is unveiling a brand new Southeast Asian edition of ESPNFC.com on 1 October 2014.
According to Mike Morrison, vice president and general manager of ESPN Asia Pacific, said that ESPN FC is a “central part of ESPN’s commitment to the coverage of global football into the future” and across media screens globally. He added that the new localised site reflects a focus on building global products that can deliver the most relevant content locally.
The site will feature extensive daily news, scores analysis and video, with a combination of focused local content about regional leagues and global coverage of the sport, concentrating on the top international leagues such as Barclays Premier League and other major European leagues. The site is also responsively designed for all devices – computers, smartphones and tablets.
Senior director of ESPN FC Bimal Kapadia added that the launch highlights the advantage ESPN has to bring coverage of the global games to fans by combining “[local] resources in Southeast Asia with an unrivaled array of worldwide journalists”.
ESPN FC claims to be the #1 football site in both Singapore and Malaysia and hence claims that the launch of the local edition certainly comes from a position of strength. ESPN FC also recently launched the first local edition of its signature television show ESPN FC in Indonesia, in a collaboration with free-to-air television channel NET.
