Edelman China appoints Geoffrey Lim as CSO

Edelman China has appointed Geoffrey Lim as chief strategy officer. He is the latest in a series of notable additions to the firm's senior team over the last year.In this newly-created role, Lim will oversee a team of 17 planning specialists across Edelman China’s four offices in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. He will report to APAC CEO Jesse Lin and be responsible for growing the firm's brand offering, delivering on Edelman’s integrated strategy solutions."Lim understands the complexity of our current operating environment better than most and brings extensive insights and experience from working with the world’s biggest brands. Alongside Ranjit Jathanna (chief strategy officer APACMEA) and the China leadership team, he will be a dynamic driving force in developing our integrated brand offer," said Lin.Lim's career spans almost 25 years in advertising. He joined Ogilvy in 2002 as director and rose through the ranks becoming head of planning for Ogilvy Taiwan before moving to Shanghai where he assumed various planning lead roles before then being appointed as head of brand planning under One Ogilvy, where Lim led a team of 12 planners.Edelman China’s senior team has been bolstered in the previous 12 months with the addition of Melinda Po as managing director, Shanghai. Po was also a former Ogilvy hire. Another arrival was former McCann CEO of Greater China Jesse Lin, who joined Edelman as regional CEO in January of last year.“Lim's ability to counsel clients on their overall communications agenda and work through core strategic issues and opportunities allows us to respond with better holistic solutions. Meanwhile, he also helps raises the level of the work we deliver,” said Jathanna.
