Duracell powers up global media strategy with MediaCom

Duracell has appointed MediaCom to handle global media duties following a pitch which commenced in November. The win covers 32 markets, including China, the US and UK. The incumbent on the account is Starcom and MediaCom will take over on 1 July.

According to MediaCom, the key chemistry meetings and face-to-face presentations were completed before the lockdown on many markets. The agency's global COO Nick Lawson said Duracell is an iconic brand and it gives the agency great pride to welcome them back into the MediaCom family.

"We are excited to apply our unique expertise and strategic thinking through our standout people," Lawson added. Marketing has reached out to MediaCom for additional information on its plans for Asia.

In April last year, the brand named Wunderman Thompson its global creative agency after a four-month multi agency pitch with over 10 agencies in the running. The appointment excludes the North American region. Marketing consulting partner Flock Associates is the designer and facilitator of the creative pitch process.
