Disney and Pixar's Toy Story takes flight at Singapore's SKAI

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story is heading to the 70th floor of Swissôtel The Stamford this September, as SKAI launches a limited-time high tea and staycation experience inspired by the animated franchise.

Running from 1 September to 30 November, the Toy Story-inspired high tea transforms characters including Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, Lotso and the Aliens into sweet and savoury creations, combining the film’s nostalgic appeal with SKAI’s contemporary culinary style and panoramic views of Singapore.

The experience has been developed by director of culinary Nicholas Issel and executive pastry chef Yong Ming Choong, using premium ingredients and culinary techniques to reinterpret the franchise’s characters.

The sweet selection includes Space Ranger, a berry velvet sponge inspired by Buzz Lightyear; Cowboy Chocolate, a Caraïbe 66% chocolate and hazelnut feuilletine creation inspired by Woody; and Lots O’ Berry, which combines pandan sponge, strawberry compote and Chantilly cream in tribute to Lotso.

Other creations include The Claw’s Choice, a matcha choux filled with house-made orange marmalade and inspired by the Aliens, and Golden Gallop, a combination of Alfonso mango sorbet, blueberries and buttery crumble inspired by Jessie and Bullseye. Warm raisin scones with Devonshire cream and preserves complete the sweet selection.

The savoury menu similarly draws on the franchise’s characters. Potato Head Royale combines smoked russet potato, Comté gougère, black truffle and N25 caviar, while Pretzel Stretch pairs a Wagyu beef smokie with pretzel brioche, sauerkraut and onion fondue, inspired by Slinky Dog.

Other savoury dishes include Golden Orchard, featuring smoked duck mousse, honey apple gel and duck crackling; Tropical Roar, a pandan mascarpone-filled pineapple bun inspired by Rex; and Garden Harvest, which takes inspiration from the Peas in a Pod with pea purée, savoury crackers, Parma ham, cucumber and feta cream cheese.

Guests can also choose between two non-alcoholic cocktails: Little Green Glow, inspired by the Aliens and made with mint cordial, cucumber, citrus and blue curaçao syrup, or Sheriff’s Star Splash, combining jasmine tea cold brew, citrus, honey and ginger ale in a nod to Woody.

The activation extends beyond dining through a Toy Story-themed staycation package at Swissôtel The Stamford. Select rooms will feature themed in-room touches and keepsakes, while guests will receive priority reservations for the high tea, breakfast for two adults and two children, and access to a Disney-themed merchandise pop-up at the Level 2 Atrium.

William J. Haandrikman, managing director at Fairmont Singapore and Swissôtel The Stamford, said the concept builds on the response to the hotel’s previous Winnie the Pooh-themed collaboration.

“I remember watching the first Toy Story when it was released, and it is remarkable to see the story continue to capture the imagination of new generations. The wonderful response to our Winnie the Pooh-themed collaboration showed us how much guests love it when exceptional dining meets a story they grew up with,” he said.

“Introducing a Toy Story-themed high tea was a natural next chapter, and with the release of Toy Story 5 this year, it felt like the perfect time to bring this experience to life. SKAI's team has created an experience that celebrates friendship and imagination, giving families a reason to gather, share a meal and take in the view from 70 floors above the city.”

The high tea is available daily from 1 September to 30 November, from 12.15pm to 5.30pm. The price includes a handcrafted non-alcoholic cocktail, TWG Tea or gourmet coffee.

The Toy Story-themed staycation package is available for stays from 3 September to 30 November, subject to availability and blackout dates.
