Chong Ee Rong has left her role of deputy managing director, commercial at Raffles Medical Group. She joined the company in October last year. Chong (pictured) told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE that she left to pursue other interests and that she enjoyed her time with Raffles Medical Group.
"It is a fantastic industry to be a part of and to be able to bring my commercial, brand and marketing experience into a healthcare organisation," she added. Some of her focus areas included the integration and digital transformation of commercial operations. Chong also established new brand guidelines, created an in-house content studio, CRM implementation and analytics capability building for deeper client engagement and driving strategic partnerships.
According to Chong, she is currently exploring other opportunities and contributing to existing roles with various organisations she works with on a board level. She recently joined Jollibee Foods Corporation (JFC) as its independent non-executive director. She was elected alongside another Singaporean named Kevin Goh and according to JFC in a filing, this is the first time there are foreigners on its board and the first time there is a female member, reflecting an improvement in its diversity.
JFC operates in 33 countries with over 5,800 stores globally, including the Philippines, China and Singapore. Among the list of brands under JFC include Jollibee, Tim Ho Wan and Yoshinoya. Recently, JFC bought the shares of the remaining partners in the fund that owns the Tim Ho Wan brand. Its wholly-owned subsidiary Jollibee Worldwide, which currently owns an 85% participating interest in the fund will fork out SG$71.56 million to purchase the remaining 15% interests of other investors in Titan Dining.
At the same time, she is also the board director for Certis Group, an integrated security organisation, her LinkedIn said. Last month, she was appointed vice chair for National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre. She is also currently a board member of the organisation.
Before Raffles Medical Group, she was with Ogilvy for close to two decades, last helming the role of group MD of Ogilvy Singapore. In that role, she oversaw key client relationships, operations, talent management and expansion of digital marketing capabilities, her LinkedIn said. According to her, some of the achievements she has amassed include founding chair for the launch of diversity and inclusion platform MeWeWPP. She was promoted to the newly created group MD role in 2016 to accelerate implementation of the agency’s global “Next chapter” strategy. Chong was also previously MD of Ogilvy Public Relations Singapore, succeeding Andrew Thomas.
She has also helmed other roles at Ogilvy including regional director, corporate and finance practice; deputy MD; and group account director. According to her LinkedIn, she first joined Ogilvy in Singapore in 2000. Before that, she was a manager at Meridian Asset Management and a corporate analyst at Sime Merchant Bank where she focused on business analytics and developments as well as marketing communications.
