Dentsu Hong Kong has promoted Popo Hu from general manager to managing director. She will continue to report to Pauline Chu, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network Hong Kong.Â
As general manager, Hu has been heading up the business for two years, driving cross-market and inter-agency collaboration and synergy. The company stated that she has been instrumental in leading agency growth, most notably taking a number of new wins, including Zespri, Prudential, Bank of China, Audi and Suntory.
“Popo’s appointment to managing director was a natural move. Over the past years, Popo has made a huge contribution to Dentsu Hong Kong. Under her leadership, we’ve seen a strong and collaborative working culture with client-centricity at its core. I am confident with her vision for the future, she will lead Dentsu into its next era of growth and success,” said Chu.
Hu joined Dentsu in 2000 to manage some of the agency’s major accounts, in particular helping define and expand client-agency partnerships. Â
“Being the first Asian born Global communications group, we take pride in growing a diverse talent base. Popo is a clear manifestation of a strong homegrown leader that understands what it takes to build brands and business in today’s complex environment. She knows how to move business by moving people,” said Dick van Motman, global CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network, Creative Agencies.
Hu added, “I’ve seen how our industry has transformed, and it has been my focus to reframe our service offerings to clients with enhanced capabilities and greater diversities. I will continue to build Dentsu Hong Kong with creativity, innovation and excellence at the centre of everything we do.”Â
