Deliveroo and AlipayHK have launched HK$7 million worth of exclusive offers and discounts for customers using their new AlipayHK payment option. The initiative is aimed at boosting local spending and accelerating economic recovery in the F&B sector. Hong Kong permanent residents aged 18 and over will have the option to spend government electronic vouchers on Deliveroo via AlipayHK or existing partner Tap & Go.

A Deliveroo Hong Kong spokesperson, said, “We continue to be dedicated to the success of the local F&B industry. By partnering with AlipayHK and offering these new voucher incentives, we are encouraging our users to support their favourite local restaurants and cafes. We recognise that current social distancing restrictions have impacted our restaurant partners and we want to make sure that our partners are still able to sell to customers via delivery during this period. Working with AlipayHK will bring more convenience and great value options to our customers. Our investment in these promotions represents a significant source of support for our restaurant partners as they seek to do more business during this critical recovery period.”

Venetia Lee, general manager of Alipay in Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, added, “As the rollout for the Hong Kong electronic consumption voucher scheme approaches, we are excited to provide a convenient and fast payment option as well as more offers and coupons to Deliveroo customers. Our new partnership presents a great opportunity for AlipayHK users who already know how convenient our services are, as they have used them at physical shops as well as online stores. Now, through Deliveroo, we can extend the use of e-wallet service to new customers and allow more dining establishments in the city to benefit from the government's scheme for some much-needed economic relief.”

As Deliveroo looks to create easier, more accessible payment options for its customers, the company has a wider plan to expand its payment options, by partnering with additional digital payment service providers in the future.

In June this year, Deliveroo inked an exclusive partnership with popular supermarket chain PARKnSHOP, with Deliveroo bringing 50 of the grocery chain’s shops across Hong Kong onto its platform during the first phase of the partnership launch. The partnership will also enable promotions of 1,000 items from the chain’s banners  including PARKnSHOP, FUSION, INTERNATIONAL and TASTE, with a focus on fresh grocery items.

It also ran a brand campaign recently with a video lately in collaboration with a number of local artists to celebrate the latest discount.  The video features actor Louis Koo, actress Michelle Lo, boyband ERROR and ViuTV's director Agent L, while ERROR performs a  song to explain that customers can enjoy a 33.3% discount when patronising at more than 2,000 restaurants and grocery stores.
