Deliveroo Hong Kong launches mall partnership to help city's struggling restaurants

Hong Kong's embattled F&B industry has been struggling to survive amid the COVID-19 pandemic. As one of the city's leading food delivery platforms, Deliveroo Hong Kong is now working with shopping malls to help restaurants stay afloat.

Aiming to help mall operators and their F&B tenants drive significant value from food delivery services, Deliveroo Hong Kong has established a voucher programme which enables malls and tenants to produce exclusive vouchers at a reduced rate. This voucher programme is hoped to encourage new and existing customers to place food delivery orders and is expected to generate an extra HK$15 million income for F&B tenants across participating malls.

In addition, Deliveroo Hong Kong is allowing malls to develop locally relevant offers. These include offering codes to offices and residences in close proximity to participating malls in addition to district-specific push notifications via various channels. This measure is expected to generate HK$5 million additional sales.

"Through the initiative’s various offers, which can be tailored to meet the specific needs of our partners, we look forward to supporting Hong Kong shopping malls and their F&B brands to reach more customers and increase their bottom line," said Brian Lo, general manager of Deliveroo Hong Kong.

In response to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, more restaurants are turning to offer food delivery services, which is why Deliveroo Hong Kong is now also fast-tracking its onboarding service for potential restaurants through a streamlined registration process. And as part of this partnership programme, restaurants will receive subsidies provided by participating shopping malls, which is hoped to further attract F&B outlets to the food delivery service.

Deliveroo Hong Kong's mall partnership programme is expected to benefit about 300 restaurant outlets operating in the 20 shopping malls operated by leading Hong Kong developers such as New World Development, Hysan Development, Sun Hung Kai Properties, and Nan Fung Group, Kerry Properties, and Hang Lung Properties.

"We were delighted to be the first shopping mall in Hong Kong to form a partnership with Deliveroo to make delivery service available to our F&B tenants. Through this partnership we have demonstrated our willingness to provide bespoke services to customers who desire access to the finest cuisine at all times," said a K11 spokesperson.
