Danone's AQUA moves lead brand account to Wunderman Thompson

Danone’s AQUA has appointed Wunderman Thompson Indonesia as its lead brand agency. The appointment was concluded following a four-way pitch involving incumbent VMLY&R, Bates, Grey and Wunderman Thompson.

According to Danone, it was looking for an agency partner that would help to deliver new and innovative marketing solutions for its iconic brand in Indonesia AQUA.

As the new lead brand agency, Wunderman Thompson will now be responsible for developing and delivering all brand communication campaigns for Danone-AQUA. In addition, the agency will also play the role of lead integrator agency among Danone-AQUA specialist partners.

Ethan Lim, VP marketing of Danone Waters aid Wunderman Thompson Indonesia was able to present diverse ideas, share outstanding strategies, and demonstrate passion as well as commitment in achieving the company’s goal.

"Danone-AQUA is excited to start this journey with Wunderman Thompson Indonesia as our partner. They were able to present. We look forward to reach our consumers in a brand-new and creative way, with the support of Wunderman Thompson," he added.

Meanwhile, newly appointed CEO of Wunderman Thompson Indonesia, Vaishali Sarkar said the agency believes that creative bravery and out of the box strategic thinking is what differentiated it from the rest during the pitch.

“Danone-AQUA is a giant in Indonesia. For 47 years as the  market leader in the packaged water category, AQUA is today generic to water for Indonesians. For us to get an opportunity to strengthen Danone-AQUA  position as category leader and elevate it to new heights, is an absolute honour.  Together with the Danone-AQUA brand team we hope to bring that to life,” she added.

Recently, Danone Indonesia appointed Wavemaker to handle media duties for its AQUA and specialised nutrition segments for two years, with the option to extend for another year. Brands under Danone's specialised nutrition segment include SGM-Danone, Bebelac, and Nutrilon. The appointment covers media planning and implementation and comes after a pitch which saw incumbent Havas Media defending the account.
