CNN promotes Andrew Demaria to international role

Andrew Demaria, the executive producer of CNN Digital Asia, has been promoted to vice president and managing editor of CNN Digital International.

In this expanded role, Demaria will be responsible for leading all editorial efforts and new initiatives across CNNI’s digital platforms and CNN Arabic. He will relocate from his base in Hong Kong to London in the coming months.

Most recently executive producer for CNN Digital Asia, Demaria has held key position for the Turner-owned news network.

He served as editor-in-chief for CNNGo, an Asia-based travel initiative launched in September 2009, and later took on the same role for the expanded CNN Travel. He was also part of the launch teams for CNN.com Asia and later CNN.com International and has held stints with the BBC and ABC.

Demaria will work tightly with Deborah Rayner, senior vice president of International Newsgathering TV & Digital, to lead a more distinctive digital work on the biggest stories of the day. He will collaborate with the sales teams to generate features and specials that appeal to both audiences and advertisers.

Meredith Artley, editor-in-chief of CNN Digital, said he will also help identify new audiences and opportunities in new markets, working with teams across CNN Worldwide to “seize what we all believe is a huge global digital potential for CNN across mobile, social and desktop.”

He officially starts the new role from April.
