Care Bears takes over Malaysia with first pop-up store

PLAY Interactive has unveiled the arrival of Care Bears in Malaysia, bringing the nostalgic brand to life with the first-ever Care Bears pop-up store, set to launch in the latter half of 2025.

The upcoming pop-up store will offer exclusive merchandise, collectibles, and interactive experiences designed to celebrate the spirit of sharing, caring, and kindness.

According to a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, fans can also look forward to a vibrant store design, featuring iconic Care Bears characters and a variety of limited-edition products, from apparel and accessories to plush toys and lifestyle goods.

Beyond the pop-up, PLAY Interactive is planning a series of activations, collaborations, and community-driven events that will further spread the Care Bears' positive message across Malaysia.

“We are incredibly excited to introduce Care Bears to Malaysia in a way that allows fans to engage with the brand like never before,” said Gary Chong, chief executive offer (CEO) at PLAY Interactive.

“This pop-up store is just the beginning, and we can't wait to share more experiences, products, and activities in the coming months," he added. 

Checks by A+M showed that the cuddly characters launched its Malaysian Instagram account on Valentine's Day this year. Local influencers also celebrated the bears' arrival with their very own unboxing videos online. 


Across the border, 7-Eleven unveiled an adorable tech range in Singapore, featuring characters from the familiar childhood franchise. In a joint Instagram post with Play Nation Singapore in March, 7-Eleven showcased a series of pictures to highlight the cuddly companions and tech accessories. Fans of franchise had the option to pick from two characters, cheer bear and grumpy bear.

In the Philippines, SM Mall of Asia brought the Care Bears to life with a live exhibition in celebration of International Day of Happiness (20 March) this year. From March to 12 April, Central Atrium transformed into a larger-than-life Care Bears wonderland, featuring setups designed to bring back childhood memories.
